It's the paperwork; it's insurance; it's transitioning to electronic medical records, so the government can get their mitts into your practice. It's lawsuits; it's rising overhead and decreasing compensation; it's stress upon stress upon stress.


Not long ago I had a conversation with a family doc, a young woman in her mid-30s. She felt very frustrated with all the paper work and other pressures. Told me that if she were not the main breadwinner in the family, she would quit medicine. I told her not to allow the SOBs to squeeze her out of the profession, and things like that, but it didn't seem to help much. That's one of the problems with stinking socialism - they will regulate out of existence any spark of life where they can find it.
