reality and seriousness of the Y2K problem have been firmly established.

You left off my As far as I'm concerned preface. I was trying to make it clear that I haven't been questioning the seriousness of the problem, just the conclusion that it is too late to do anything about it.

This sort of complacence is most maddening.

And the longer it continues, the more likely the negative extreme becomes!
