Of course government should impose laws to protect the people from fraud and other illegalities>

There's so many places our govt. could do better. Here's one example:

Illegal aliens obtaining TTINs, working in the U.S. and filing tax returns in order to get the child tax credit.

Anybody counting how many crimes are involved in this scenario? Unbelievable, but filing the return by an illegal alien is not a crime, but why is this so? It cost us more than $4 Billion in 2010.

Illegal for the illegal to be here, illegal for the business to hire the illegal, illegal for the illegal to work but ok for this person who should not be here/should not work here to file a tax return to receive a credit?

treasury.gov

TTINs do not allow claiming the earned income credit, but do allow claiming dependent children in Mexico.
