law is technical. it doesn't mean what it seems to mean in plain english. you need to know the cases interpreting the law.

i give you link to just one section of the bankruptcy code. section 365. i have lectured on it.

law.cornell.edu

like other statutes, it cites to other sections, which you have to know, study.

it has terms of art. you have to know what adequate assurance is.

i knew the old law. i lectured on this section when it was new - 1979.

many lobbyists for many groups had provisions added in the past 30 years.

when cases came down, the law was amended to change the ruling in those cases.

this is section 365.

section 547 is worse. so is section 1129. so are sections 362, 363, 523.

farmers, fisherman, banks, landlords, mothers against drunk driving, hedge funds, feminists all have provisions put in the bankruptcy code.

i more recently lectured on section 365(n).

of course, the tax code is much worse.
