Yep, Walter Reed closed down. The building was getting pretty old (parts of it 80+ years old) and the real estate where it sat getting too valuable, to try to patch it up, I guess. I think they built a new hospital addition to the Ft Belvoir hospital to absorb some of the hospital capabilities and patients, and much of the rest of the care capabilities went to Bethesda, I think. Not sure, but I think that's the way it went.

I am always respectful when dealing with governmental figures ... I even address the local police chiefs as "Chief" and the county sheriffs as "Sheriff", even though I have gone fishing or other socialized with all of them, and even though they have told me to call them by their first name. I felt it is the right thing to do because their guys should also address them by their proper title and I don't want to set a bad example in front of their subordinates. The local guys appreciate and return the respect. The 'important national' figures don't always do that! But, I let them be the bad guys. It never hurt to address someone as 'Sir' or 'Ma'am' as I was raised to do.
