Globally oil and/or oil products get net subsidies from some countries (a lot of the oil produces, and even some poor non-oil producers subsidize gasoline and/or diesel fuel), and heavy targeted taxes from others (most of Europe, Japan, some other countries, to a lesser extent the US)
