. I am sure that Apple will charge a premium to join the iOS ecosystem....and my guess is that a 7" WiFi tablet for $299 will absolutely fly off the shelves. It destroys the breathing room that android tablets have previously enjoyed.

I agree, though, I give a $50 premium about a 20% chance. Aside from killing Android tablets it makes any possible 7 inch Surface Vaporace intro DOAce.
