You confuse communism with liberalism.

I am strained to understand how you perceived that I was confusing Communism with Liberalism..

Maybe you don't understand that contemporary Liberals have stolen their name from the ones who originally coined the phrase.. (Classical Liberals).

en.wikipedia.org

What you may be referring to is Socialism.. And as the old saying goes.. "A Communist is merely a Socialist who's in a hurry".

No.. I prefer to sit in the middle ground.. I only accept government interference for the purpose of regulating and preserving the integrity of the rule of law, as applied to social and economic order, and to ensure that the interests and needs of the people which elected it are properly represented.

But I also believe that Government, with it's ability to access and deploy assets and resources for a long term investment, be willing to engage in R&D and infrastructure projects that the short-sighted private markets will not dare to venture (Aeronautics, Space, Internet, Material Sciences, and Medical Pharmaceuticals and Technology)...

But when Gov't does that, it should so with the expectation of a long-term ROI on the taxpayer invested money that is utilized.
