Very cool article, and shows someone is appreciative and trying to help get the word out.

I have always enjoyed being out on the streets at night, and found it to be both entertaining and educational. You really learn who is doing what to whom (even if you don't want to know! LOL) and it sure doesn't take long for the neighborhood 'crew' to learn who you are and what you are doing. And it certainly is true that extra pairs of eyes can prevent a lot of situations from ever going beyond the 'planning' stages.

I hope the county or someone is at least buying your gas! That could get expensive ...

Good, too, that you have the radio. The deputies in their vehicles can monitor anything you transmit and get to your location much faster than if you had to call in by phone, and relay everything through a call taker. Also good the dispatcher knows you are supposed to check in, and can initiate procedures to find you if something has happened where you can't call in.

I applaud you. You guys and gals deserve a lot of thanks. I'm sure your training is thorough, and hopefully everyone involved will perform accordingly.

Good job!
