I do prefer at least a 49 ... on up to 60 .. my favorite size is probably a 6 X 54 Toro or so, but I usually end up ordering more 5 X 50 Robustos than anything else. I am not real hot on the torpedo or perfecto shapes, but I make an exception for the Fuente Hemmingway Short Story. Now there's a dynamite smoke - good things DO come in small packages!
The Friedman I tried was a medium bodied smoke, with some leather and coffee flavors, and just a bit of pepper in the last 1/4 or so, and some sweetness in the maduro wrapper. It had what I consider a very good draw, but I like the draw a bit 'looser' than some, I think. It was a very well rolled smoke, and was very generous in the quantity of smoke - something I like. It was from his 'Special Edition' series. The finish was long and lingering too, which I also like. I spent about an hour and 15 minutes with it, very leisurely, out on my deck overlooking the lake. It was still pretty warm out, but tolerable. My beverage of choice last night was good old reliable ice water.
As I said, I will order some more, probably from the 'Lone Star' series. They have the Toro size on sale now for $55 a box, which seems to be a pretty decent deal if they are comparable to the one I had.
I order most of my stuff from the auction site, Cigarbid.com. I especially like the idea that one can order one or two singles from the site of many different smokes, just to try before buying a larger quantity. I get some pretty good deals there too, and real good ones on occasion. |
