The reason I'll be reversing my underperform call to an outperform call has to do with the magnitude of the company's drop relative to its patent value, its cash on hand, and its partnerships.


Then don't forget the debt and the long-term pension obligations over at NSN.


Nokia may and have looked at selective non-performing asset sales. But, you start selling off the patent portfolio with no guarantee that the cash would not be plundered before it ever reached shareholders pockets, then you are in effect leaving nothing but a carcass.


The reason it is trading where it is is that there is very little confidence that the cash in the bank will still be there in 3 years. Selling core assets to generate more cash to be burned is not in the best interest of shareholders.
