try making the fence higher rather than covering it.
how much room do they have?

They have much more room than what they have been paying me in rent. Approx 10x10 give or take 10.

I plan on going higher with the fence. But thought maybe covering it will also help protect them from the hawks and other predators.

As much as I complain about my monster-in-law, she was nice enough to come over each day to chicken sit.
