I hadn't heard that one. That's pretty strange, as I think SSN's were assigned based on state of residence back at that time. He could have made application at a post office in CT, but unless his address was CT, I don't think he would have received a CT #.

Of course, I've never seen his SSN and I don't know if anyone really knows it, but that would indeed be odd.
