For these rough times:Jerry , i think maybe i am20 years older than you because you don't seem to mention Phils had a great 10 year run, from 1974(the year the what were called "The Gold Dust" Twins, arrived, i think Schmidt age 21 and Luzinski age 22 and with Hall Of Fame All-Time great Pitcher "Lefty" C. already there(since 1971)--we won one WS lost another WS, and what some consider the best Phils team ever were stunned in first round playoffs to Dodgers, much like Phils being blind sided by Cards last--it was that team that Phils beat their alltime victories in one season. Offensively that team may have the best stats of any Phils team in history. Dodgers went to WS and lost to Yanks(Reggie Jackson Yanks). Names Schmiidy/Carlton/GaryMaddox/GaryMathews/McGraw/Greg Luzinaki/BobBoone and McCarver at catcher/Pete Rose/ Cash and so on: (McCarver was Carlton's catcher, by Lefty's demand) Run ended in 1983, when Orioles four 20 or more games winners shut-us down(Series just went 5 games--that pitching staff for Orioles as great a staff ever!)
