I know it disagrees with your deep-seated prejudices and wrong-headed beliefs, but Fareed Zakaria has been doing a series of reports on health care systems around the world. One aired last night, about Taiwan's health care system, created from scratch in one year in the nineties. The Taiwanese studied health care systems from around the world, including ours ( which they ended up not thinking too much of ). Their goal was to insure everyone and cost containment. They ended up with a government run single payer system that is the envy of the world.
