Maybe I just don't get it.. But, I just don't see a huge demand for 41MB cameras in a phone? They don't have to go that high with it, in the W8 version. I don't expect them to.
In my opinion - as I already said here before - the Nokia 808 PureView is a prototype, a test drive, and a showcase of the best of what PureView imaging can do.
I expect them to scale it down - in sensor size, pixel size and capability - by the time it hits W8 phones. Same concept, but smaller and cheaper.
What percentage of the market would give up their current handset to buy a phone with a 41MB camera? I would suggest that most people with those requirements (professional photogs) also require a lot more control over their setting, ie. interchangeable lenses, etc. My hand is up. Way up.
I have it on pre-order, white version. I am a pro photographer. There are times when I am not interested in using my pro tools. Instead, I want/need a pro capable cameraphone. I'll gladly give up my iPhone for the Nokia 808 PureView. It's lossless zooming capability is amazing, and so is its lowlight quality output. Beats many dedicated point and shoot cameras, and almost equals DSLRs.
I expect to use it on a daily basis, primarily as a camera that also happens to have a phone, email, browser and maps built in. |
