OK do you want to use this mostly at home or mostly when you are out?

OUT - 7" or iPhone
IN - 7" or iPad

OK when you are out would you rather carry it in a pocket or does it matter? Do you need the bigger screen size? How many devices do you feel comfortable carrying?

Big - 7"
Pocket - iPhone

OK when you are in does $300 matter to you over 2 years of amortization? That's less than 50¢ a day, and even less if you keep it 3 years or more. Does it matter if the 7" will be much less comfortable for casual computing?

iPad - most people
7" - a few people

I think the bottom line is people with money realize that the 7" form factor is disadvantaged both ways IN or OUT. Its a product for people who have to be careful with money (hence no profit) or those with enough to have all three devices.

Either way its a toss up as to whether Apple should build one or not. I'm sure that very smart people have debated this question, weighed the advantages and disadvantages of building one vs. putting those resources into other projects. Very smart people.
