"Deal makers" "CDT: Shooting STAR" Robert Compton, President of Star Technology announced the acquistion of Curran Data Technology which offers data entry, forms processing, document imaging, scanning and archival storage and retrieval services. This composite of services included all the components of document and imaging management except collaboration such as open text or filenet or Domino.doc, etc.. The larger part of the document and knowledge business is the collaboration technology which can be stand alone if all data are entered digitally through thin or thick client network in a distributed system or on internet. We are anxiously waiting for STRR to add to the vertical integration. Filenet recently stopped negotiations with Diamond head software; instead goes to workflow, document imaging (including COLD), and document management on internet. Very strong direction towards digital data entry on internet, which is suitable for search and collaboration. Morgan Stanley analyst Bill Farrel says " (Filenet is) no longer a stealth software company". Filenet has over 1000 customers.
