And where would Canada be were it not for America's military strength? We spend a good portion of that the budget insuring that we can deploy AND DEFEND American interests around the world. And as a result of that capability, untold millions of lives have been saved due to the deterrence against aggression by other nations. (How many millions of people have died under Marxist/Maoist regimes, or now.. Islamic fundamentalist governments?)

I have a high regard for Canada's armed forces, which have a history of being quite professional and which uses a lot of American equipment.

But let's not have any doubt about who's bearing the greatest financial brunt for Canada's security. Your country lacks the financial and manpower requirements to defend its own territory and requires the US to back it up.

That said, I would completely concur that costs are too high for the stuff we're procuring and money is being wasted on items that are not meeting our security needs.

But then again, it's the same thing with the US health care system, which consumes 17% of the US GDP.. one of the highest in the developed world.

I say this in full expectation that you have absolutely little understanding of the need for a national defense or the consequences of not having one.
