I’ve found it interesting to follow the exchanges that have taken place with regard to individual’s stock choices and their reasons for choosing them. There’s been quite a lot of discussion around the question of “Value”.
Personally I don’t think we should get too hung up on that aspect as there’s likely to be differing opinions as to what constitutes a “Value” stock and what doesn’t. I’d say that Buffett, himself, has developed his own stock selection criteria, which has moved away, in some respects, from his mentor, Ben Graham. For me, a more important consideration is what stock one would put into one’s portfolio for the longer term. And ‘longer term’ could, for example, be what one would want in one’s “retirement plan”, etc.., etc... I believe I said the following in my initial post on the subject ….
”These should be stocks that you would consider putting in your longer term portfolio and stocks that would conform to your definition and understanding of “Value”.
Buffett, as we know, generally goes for the long haul. That’s not to say that he never sells a stock he’s bought. But if he does it’s most likely because it no longer meets his own criteria that he sets for investment, or that something better presents itself. That could also apply to our stock choices.
  So, …. keep ‘em coming ! |
