david, to acquaint you with some history.

In 1994 Daryl White & Pfief planned a massive inventory build up in stores of cpq's.
They had record sales and it turned out to be fantastic move..
The financial community worried allot about it, but, then called it a coup de grax when it paid off... this is what they will have to say about this yr. too.
I never said anything about concern..Not, one word about concern.

i said just the opposite in all the other posts...
But, When cpq said they were dropping inventory months ago..
I said that "not during the Christmas Season".
They will suspend the drop inventory policy during that period..
So, I think you just read that one post and didn't see all my other post on the subject..
The analsyt concern is unwarranted, but Cpq should have managed expectations better.
Their phase of drop inventory should have included that in order to meet all the demand we'll need to rise inventory during this last 6 weeks of the yr.

Since my systems group wrote cpq's store inventory modeling system , I'm more than aware how cpq tracks store inventory and creates reserves for price decreases based on price drops that need to happen bec. they have to much inventory.
My guess is they don't have enough inventory per their plan.
