We had gone to this historic smelter on the way to Cuale to take some pictures

and then gone on to Cuale and around to another old historic mine to and then picked our way around a rock slide taking the long way back to the highway. When we got down closer to civilization I came up fast behind a herd of pigs running down the road in front of the jeep. I was alerted to this by an "i cabron!" from one of the passengers. There was baby pigs, mama pigs and huge giant pigs and by sheer luck I did not hit one of them. I'm sure those pigs we terrorized had a sleepless night and in future evenings listened much harder for traffic coming down the mountain.

Next day in the same vehicle going south along the Pacific highway there was a rock slide to our left that would have killed us except for an on coming semi that blocked the slide from hitting our jeep. I could hear all the rocks clanking on his truck as we went by and a couple of seconds later his trailer was thrown into the on coming lane. A sheer miracle - we pulled over at the nearest cantina and had a big shot of tequila. Mi amigo said look at everything in your life after this as a gift for we both almost died.
