guess what??!?

one chick hatched out - one was trampled on while hatching
out (another hen got in there wanting to lay an egg - so sad!)
and there is still one egg left. don't know whether it will hatch
or not.

mama cass looks wretched. she is almost constantly on
the nest and hardly ever eats.

i don't know what do it next. i can't let her and her
chicks out with the other hens because i'm not sure how well
she'll take care of them. i can't let them out in the open garden
because i'm not sure she'll scare off the cats. yet, she needs
access to dirt and grass so that she can feed her chicks.
what to do??? i'm in a real quandary.

anyone have any suggestions.
