I don't know what Obama's view is, since I have never spoken with him. Given the Supreme Court decision in the Citizens United case, which has opened up unlimited anonymous spending to backers of both parties , I expect both candidates backers will spend as much as they can raise all of the time.

That has nothing to do with my belief that the post Labor Day time frame is more important than the pre Labor Day period. Given the Tsunami of cash that is flowing in to both sides I could well be proven wrong. We are in uncharted political waters.
