I don't know what Obama's view is, since I have never spoken with him.

What you do know is what you are able to see Obama doing. You can see his actions - you don't need to speak to him. Obama is currently spending large sums on PRE-Labor Day campaign advertising.
Why? I guess because he can.

So, what Obama is doing differs from what you think is ideal campaign behavior. It's no big deal to just acknowledge that you disagree with Obama's current tactics. That doesn't mean his is wrong or you are wrong --- although one of you might be.

We are in uncharted political waters.

Obama raised incredible amounts of money in 2008 and outspent McCain by vast margins. There had been talk of Obama raising a billion dollars in 2012 -- the guy is at a Hollywood fundraiser or rich Manhattan fundraiser like every other day. I think I saw that he has had 2x as many fund raisers as any other POTUS. He has probably had at least 2x as many rounds of golf while President too.

Anyway, Obama could have chosen to go the public funding route back in 2008 but why would he do that when he had a big money advantage? He isn't always stupid.
