Steve, both Woodward and Gergen are Republicans. At least, old style Republicans.

That said, I have said before that the real question isn't whether or not Bain outsourced--many companies have outsourced--the real question is, does the fact that Romney was the head of Bain mean that, as he repeatedly claims, "knows how to create jobs in America"--and, as should be added, as President of the US, not as president of a private equity firm. It is clear that as president of a private equity firm, he knows how to create jobs in other countries, and it is clear that he knows he make money from a company even if fails. Perhaps, as FDR said about Joe Kennedy, that means he might make a good SEC director, but it isn't at all clear why that means that he would make a good president. The role of a President is very different from the role of an executive in the private sector.
