Your message inspired me do some searching. According to a 11-25-97 Reuters wire, DLJ filed with the SEC on 11-25-97 to sell $300,000,000 in debt securities and preferred stock. "The proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including refinancing of existing debt and the financing of potential aquisitions, and initially may be temporarily invested in short term securities." It would appear that DLJ has a need, at this time, for a large amount of liquidity. The selling of large blocs of stock would seem to be one of the ways to achieve that ends. Peace, Scott.
