If intelligence isn't inherited... of course the potential is inherited (or not in some cases :O).. environment is the nurturing or accelerant.. both play a role.. no stimulus and tools do not develop (or at least not nearly as well) environment had been selectively against women for a long time.. something to do with evolution ?.. and now the environment is changing (well regressing in Egypt, something to do with religion :o( ) .. become more favorable to women with smart genes (I know I was talking along these lines a long while ago when we were discussing this) .. so we should get more and more of them (smart women)..

A little dated but you can likely guess the line that caught my eye, similarity to my kids :o)

Many successful women also athletic

By Del Jones, USA TODAY

At age 24, Betsy Bernard was put in charge of 60 employees at AT&T who were five to 35 years older. She was promoted "out of my comfort zone." But Bernard had been ski racing on the edge of a wipeout since age 5, and she drew from that the ability to see her job as more exhilarating than frightening. Today, Bernard is the 46-year-old CEO of AT&T's $20 billion consumer business. As women break through the glass ceiling, researchers are on the lookout for what they have in common. One trait emerging is a background in athletics.

Take heart Mq.. the genes may come from dad ;o)

Shameless promotion of my kid.. :o)

Notice the right ski and placement of the left hand ? weight transfer was sloppy...
that is had been ski racing on the edge of a wipeout but he didn't :o)

Anyway.. back to topic..

Just seems to me that the data have been skewed against women for a long time.. like the victor writing history.. Next ten years should be interesting... Maybe the definition od smart is wrong ;o)

My daughter is very bright with a myriad of talents and above average athleticism.. I have a lovely niece (sister's daughter) who also very bright, also top grades and a crack athlete.. Her brother's girlfriend is another very bright young woman just doing her medical residency and was a great soccer player.. ethnically we have two very mixed from my family with recent northern European, Mediterranean and Asian roots and one that would be considered Pure Laine by the Quebec sovereigntists .. most common thread among them ?.. good genes raised in an environment with no preference for the advancement of males over females..

I know I know.. I am misunderstanding something again :O)
I gave you Flynn's email.. maybe he can straighten me out after you smarten him up :O)

Blackie

EDIT: I expect to see more and more women 'skiing on the edge of wipeout' just like men.. and some men will fall by the wayside..
