Social security and medicare taxes are paid so that the citizen has a safety net in the end. It is really meant for personal use. These taxes should not be counted against federal taxes since they are directly going to be returned to the taxpayer. If you don't like it, repeal them. Just don't confuse them with income taxes which are distributive by design.

Furthermore, guess what, the employer matches some of these! The small business owner pays for the retirement and medicare of the employee.

So, the left should stop whining. They have complete disregard for the efforts of people who succeed. The top 2% pay far more as a % of tax burden compared to their earnings. Yes, some like Romney seem to pay less. But that can be fixed by treating long term gains as ordinary income.
