HP is not a technology company at least in the sense of computer systems they are a repackager. They have outsourced future development of Unix to SCO, adopted windows NT as their OS and Intel as their chip architecture. HP's computer business will be like DEC in a couple of years - a service organization hungry for revenue but not committed to making anything of real value - DEC did much of the work around NT and has an infinitely superior Alpha chip to what Intel has today but because it was so eager to bend over to Intel and Microsoft it is a has been in the industry - HP will not escape the same fate.

then again HP's biggest source of profits come from Printer Cartridges and microsoft doesnt seem to be wanting to get in that business.
