It would appear that Microsoft's gains are coming at the expense of RIM. I don't take that from the Comscore data presented in your post, but from marketshare comparisons that show all the different players.

In absolute terms, a move from 3 to 4% is not so amazing, but the growth percentage represented in those figures is impressive. We have to remember that Microsoft is coming from well behind in this race.

It seems to me that Comscore is actually being rather conservative in making this prediction. Yes, we have half the year's data already, but that Windows 8 phones will be landing in the fall. I believe that should give Microsoft some decent traction in that timeframe.
