my data files should be safe to back up to reload later...Right?? This is the theory. However, be careful as there are some programs, especially database programs that have data files sometimes stored in parts located in different folders. If you don't have them all, you might as well not have any of it. Just be careful that you are saving all folders for each application. A full copy of everything would be safest, just in case there is a piece missing somewhere, you can go back and find it. Scrapps, one additional thought as I haven't followed your specific problem, but be sure you have eliminated the possibility of a virus as a source of difficulty, if you haven't already. I was infected for about two weeks once and thought I had a bad disk drive that was failing. I ended up reinstalling Windows about three or four times before I discovered the virus.
