Re: iPhone 5 rumors

we bought our second ipad2 (refurbished) for 320$ in the Apple store a few weeks ago

but that is a refurbished unit. Ipad 2 official price is 399 (I think).. So have Ipad mini start at 300 and top out in 350 is a way to cover the rest of the world (and a refurblish Ipad 3 mini would hit 240-250ish price point and that will kill all the android table in the 200 price point. It seems that Android OS cost manufacturer $15-20 a copy for royalty etc. So there won't be any Android tablet below $100 that is profitable. So most Android will get squeezed into the $100 to $200 price point). I think the Ipad mini will have the same screen resolution as Ipad 2. There is not a lot of rumor on the tech details floating around right now but my best guess is that it is a repackage Ipad 2 with smaller form factor (7.85 inches), less storage (8G to start), less memory (512 mb), less battery, less weight, same processor as Ipad 2 (and they probably write off the cost of development already). Less weight will be a big winner if you want to carry it around...I think the margin is going to be the issue.. May be 30-35% gross margin instead of the 40ish profit margin that the rest of Apple product..
