Microsoft has been covering up their market failures in everything they've done... other than the effort in milking the cash cow... for the last decade and longer... by papering over the serial failures with "cash management".

Not shocking to me that we see Elop doing that now at NOK... but, NOK doesn't HAVE the bottomless pit of cash continually welling up... while his method requires it...

It is clearly not the case that MSFT or NOK have a culture that enables their inductees in "thinking like Steve Jobs"...

I agree with the rest of yours...

The reason I noted the utility in the focus on the divvie as a focal point... versus the rest of the "spin"... is precisely as it will reveal whether the management have made the proper "correction" in focus yet... that I expect we will need to see, first, before expecting the results of managements efforts to "shake things up" will be anything other than "spinning" their ongoing management of the decline that is continuing...

The industry requires that they be looking for where the puck will be and be MORE right about that... than competitors...

That they WERE there... and management pissed away their opportunities ? Strike one...

That they've dithered for the last two years while evidence mounted that competitors were snacking on their lunch ? Strike two...

And, what we see now... is NOK still trying to figure out what the hell happened to the puck on that last play...
