You cannot tax the wealthy enough to make a material dent in the deficit. Obama has added five trillion, six by the time he leaves office, in four years. I don't know what tax rate on wealthy people you think would even have an effect on that, but when you consider the dynamic economic consequences of any tax increase on the wealthy, it would increase, not decrease, the deficit.
