My mother's side came through Ellis in the late 19th century, but my father's side came to the U.S. very early............mid to late 17th century. That side fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War and so on all the way through the Korean War. I have quite a bit of their geneaology but not much of my Mother's side. If I were to take it up, I'd look at her side. The name is much rarer.
