It’s true that after her departure, the hospital did not fill the position of vice president for community and external affairs. But the column doesn’t mention that she had reduced her work schedule to part time well before she left and wasn’t making that much money when she officially resigned.

Obama was sworn in as a senator on January 3, 2005.


Factcheck strives to quibble about whether she worked full time, whether her income included compensation other than salary, etc ... but the basic facts they're trying to obsfuscate are that her salary skyrocketed after her husband was elected US Senator! And her job was eliminated when she left to move to Washington.
