SilentZ makes another idiotic statement. The assessment of taxes in the US is voluntary, and the Supreme Court in Flora v. United States, 362 U.S. 145, 176 (1960), determined as much "[o]ur system of taxation is based upon voluntary assessment and payment, not upon distraint."

But the point is that anyone who volunteers to do so can simply pay an extra billion or two to the IRS -- they'll take it. This includes Buffett and Gates and the rest of them.

It is utterly stupid to claim our government is "starved of revenue". They're starved of discipline and starved of the will to restrain the growth of government until the entire operation collapses.
