you are ill informed. David Brooks is not a fool. I, for one, think Brooks a pragmatist. as far as his conservative identity, it reaches back into the history books with William F Buckley, his mentor. I have to admit I found Buckley most interesting years ago. maybe that conservative philosophy does fly in the face of today's reality show but I think there was a massive change after Goldwater and starting with Reagan. sort of like the "Great Schism" in the year of 1054 with the Catholic Church & the Eastern Orthodox. Before and after conservatism is not the same. David Brooks is an intellectual. I honor his opinion as he presents. he does not whine. he is not an emotional twit that is so frequently exhibited by today's conservatives; i.e. Coulter/ Limbaugh/ O'Reilly the thing of great importance with Brooks is that he tells the painful truth, whether it supports his political philosophies or not. when all is said or done, he does not lie, gloss over, or fudge the truth. I give him the credit he is due.
