We now have specific dates. August for Windows 8 and Oct 26th for W8 General Availability. Since W8 and WP8 are based on the same code/same drivers we can assume the Sep release of WP8 makes sense. So assuming the Sep RTM release of WP8 holds true, and considering that Nokia has had an advantage in working with conjunction with Microsoft on WP8 ( the preview in June was done exclusively on Nokia's hardware - so they already have drivers for their hardware working), we could see Nokia being ready to ship before everyone else is. In fact we could see Nokia selling WP8 phones exclusively for about a month before anyone else does. So I expect Nokia to have their WP8 phones available and for sale sometime in Oct. maybe even on the same day W8 is released Oct 26 (assuming Microsoft's final release of WP8 RTM to OEMs is in fact in Sep).

It 's going to be a very interesting Xmas with iOS, W8/WP8, Android, all having new products and spending major market dollars (Microsoft is going to having a massive ad campaign with W8/WP8 based on Nokia's CC). January 2013 we will know who the big winner was. But having a new version of Windows 8 for the billions of Windows users out there, while also having a WP8 mobile solution that is based off the same code, is going to be a big plus.

One thing is for sure. RIMM is screwed. They have nothing new for this holiday season.
