My kids got a good education and the options were plentiful.............advanced classes galore..............but I had to tussle more than a few times with a couple of their principles just to get them to do what they are legally bound to do. I was very involved in PTA and helping in the classroom and I shutter today when I recall some of the stuff I saw happening. Reticent teachers, the lax discipline, favoritism. I was a very vocal parent and usually got what I wanted.
