put it this way, I enjoy his presence.
I remember watching PBS some time ago, it was most likely during the Jim Lehrer era, with the Brooks/ Shields point- counter point, put & take, whatever you want to label it. The thing about PBS, I like it as much as the fucking nouveau conservatives detests it.
Well the point being, out of nowhere, Brooks idly says that something like 93% (forgive me if I error a little but it was like the low 90's%) of the journalists from the Washington- NewYork- Boston are are basically liberal. He also said that journalists are way above the norm in intelligence.
So, go figure that may support some of what you write.
I do not recall why he said what he said.
I think basically he has his past affiliations intact, being Canadian born, Chicago University educated no less. I think it Buckley had heard of Brooks mimicking of him, as in Buckley...it was that good to capture his attention, so Buckley visited Chicago U., heard Brook's gig, & he hired him. I give Brooks his due. Say what you want, the guy is as intelligent as anyone on television but maybe he comes across as "normal" to us lessor beings. I think his is a studied approach before he opens his mouth. I would not label him an overachiever. He is what he is. He is excellent at what he does. That is not bad into b.s. political arena.
By the way, if I error on some of the facts (has to be damn little), it is that I write with memory. I am not going to weeny out & do all the right wing copy & paste & flood the basement b.s. |
