good point about Milken & Boesky... Letsee.. spend a few years in a white collar prison, tennis, pools, you name it... and for the REAL kicker- the courts made certain that they were able to retain a certain amount of their wealth to allow them to sustain a lifestyle they were used to..
I keep thinking back when I was younger, I was arrested for smoking a joint in a pizzeria my friend owned (after hours).. to make a long story short, it was coincidently in front of a school, in what New Jersey terms 'drug free school zone'... So, despite the fact that it was at 1am in the morning I was facing 3 years in prison, 10s of thousands in fines/legal fees, I was labeled a 'drug dealer' even though it was 1 damn joint between 3 adults...
I keep coming back to this thread because it reminds me alot of that episode in my life.. I learned alot from it, and in retro. it was the best thing that ever happened because it was a splash of cold water on my face to wake me up..
now its off to eat a wonderfull meal as a free man again... |
