Judy, I'm unfamiliar with the Yr2000 stocks. Yes, I know about ZITL and some others, but haven't dug deeper than chat and some wild looking charts. My question is this: Are any of them emerging with technology and or contracts that give a company or some companies real momentum?

I emphasize 'momentum' as I believe this business will quickly run with the apparent winners due to outsourcing and solutions purchasing-buzz and the time pressures mounting to select the 'right' vendor.

My personal view is that this problem will also create a bubble of new systems purchases__ both hardware and software as the best solution in 1999. Many legacy systems are like old cars sporting over 100 thousand miles on the odometer. There's a ratio in maximizing car ownership where the monthly repair costs approach the monthly loan replacment cost of a new vehicle, its time to buy a new car. Many computer systems will no doubt be in that "repair or buy new more cheaply" class... creating a bubble of new equipment and software purchases in late 1998- 1999.

In the meantime, if you have some insight into the current Y2k race I'd much appreciate it.

thanks,

Happy Thanksgiving... (we've been watching the Macy's parade in NY)
very windy, but lots of fun.
