I agree with you on that one. They don't take risk as much because they don't want to make anyone unhappy. They get heat if they make a mistake but also if they do it right but some folks don't like it. No win. Which is all the more reason to do only what is necessary and keep their paws out of the rest.

So you are for larger and more risk taking governments? Or maybe just treating these folks that are trying to do "the people's work" as less than the Devil incarnate?

We are not getting our money's worth if we pay for all the crap both in taxes and in lost productivity on top of paying for the positive things.

So you don't think that when the private sector makes mistakes it costs us money? Malinvestment costs money no matter where it is, private or public.

Keep following the meme Lane, don't bother with the big picture. Like I said defending the governments is hard work, and I don't really enjoy it. But perspective demands it. You're not as much of a knee jerk reactionary as most... Think about it a little.

I may or may not post on this again. But I would suggest you think about the 1000's of things governments do well before you respond. How much governments have contributed to civilization. How we ALWAYS form multiple of levels of government every chance we get, everywhere. Why? Because they don't make things better? Is the species that stupid? Does that ring true? Think.
