The problem is that is not a well defined movement. Similarly, the words, "right" and "left" have become meaningless beyond some imaginary dividing line. It clearly matters how far to the left or right of that line you are. Similarly there is a huge difference between a true libertarian and Christian conservative, even though both groups are often labeled as "conservative." Many people use this vagueness to deliberately muddy the debate and score cheap points. Others let their terminology get in the way of their own thinking.

This is the true meaning of "Conservative." Which in the US will mean reliance on established market forces and social norms. To suggest that conservatism means something else is a folly.
