Obama signs an executive order to create a racist federal office to benefit his own race (half of his race -- as you might suspect, not the white half).

NBC reports that President Obama will sign an executive order today that will create a special new federal office aimed at improving education for African Americans. As the news story says, up to now President Obama has often resisted this sort of blacks-only program (though he has supported other kinds of racial preferences and race-based policies, as Corner readers know. “In an interview on BET last September he answered a question about why he didn’t create more policies specifically targeted at African Americans: ‘That’s not how America works,’ the president replied, ‘America works when all of us are pulling together and everybody is focused on making sure that every single person has opportunity.’” But apparently election-year pressures to pander to his base have gotten too strong. And just wait until next term.

Per my post earlier today, here’s the executive order that the president signed today and the accompanying statement, establishing the “White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans.” Again, too bad that the president has chosen to set up a new bureaucracy with a focus on one particular racial group, to the exclusion of all others.
