Yacov, My goal is to have sufficient money to keep a roof over my head
and food to eat. I think $1 M to 1.5 M. should be enuf for this.

I have benefited for the first time from your msg written on 4/16/97.

It is wonderful that we have SI where very like minded individuals
can share thoughts across the world.

In U.S. a prive college like Stanford, JohnHopkins etc costs

$25k/yr *4 yrs = 100k /yr. per kid. This rates are going at much higher rate then inflation. So I figure $250k min. required for 2 kids.

Conservative living for food/clothes/car/med insurance etc = $25/yr.+ rent or house payment.

Capitol budget 2 new cars every 10years and the 250k mentioned above
for education over a period of 10 ++ yrs. = $25k/yr of extra spending per year.

so exenses are 50k yr.

with typical salary of 100k per yr. in silicon vally (enigneer 7 yrs of experience makes 100-130k).

100k(salary) - 30k fed tax - 20k (other tax state,fica etc)-15k (401k), 10k (company stock) = 25k bring home paycheck needed

this is a typical family of 4 w. one person working.

intel 4 health and wealth etc... wishing you the best for upcoming year.
