Dutch government commission: slight PANIC is necessary...

On 25/11/1997, the chairman of the Dutch government initiated Millenium plantform, Mr. Jan Timmer told journalists the following:

Biggest problems re Y2K are:

- in embedded software
- possible supply chain disruptions

"We want to have a slight panic, so that problems will be fixed in time".

Q: when you buy a car; should you ask if it is Y2K compliant?
A: yes

"Waiting with solving the problem is dangerous"

"Tempo should increase"

John

(b.t.w, Wim Kok did chair a press conference; but did not appear in this Nova evening program. He did state that the problem is grave, however).
