The big question...Are you better off?

I recuse mice elf; I inherited enuf from my Mom to say "yep". (My retirement accounts are back, tho.)

However, my town is.
I dunno; maybe I should recuse it, cuz of marijuana money.

1500 people in town, 5000 or so when you count us hillbillies..

in the last 4 years:

1) Some local kids knocked down a long vacant gas station and put in a coffee house.
2) There is a successful Mexican restaurant, locally owned, in a location which must have bad fung karma, cuz it's been one failure another there. I think they opened just before the crash.
3) There is a new restaurant, owned by people in Willits, in the Old Laytonville Inn. There were a few attempts to start something there after the old cafe closed a number of years ago, but no real success.
4) Once less realty, due to death; his spot is now rented by a local beekeeper, for selling supplies and honey and such. I think he still needs his business permit from the county.
5) Heath Center is solar powered, thanks to the stimulus.
6) Heard last night that a Chinese restaurant just opened, owned by the family who owns one in Willits.
7) Mail-order logging place is downsizing, but some distant neighbors of mine ( hey, they live on my road) opened a Napa franchise.
8) Power equipment guy in Willits rents a place outside of town for a branch office. He was starting to put up his own building in town, just before the crash. Took him 2 or 3 years just to get the shell of the building built.
Somebody bought the shell last year, finished the building, and is leasing it to the company my daughter works for. They also opened a branch office in Ore.
9) The kids who own the nursery installed a solar system.
